HAVING just read the election results in today’s edition of the Argus, and seen the accompanying photograph, I am outraged at the outcome of the Greenmeadow ward election. How on earth can such an important decision be taken by a flip of the dice or in this case the ballot paper. If this is what is called democracy, I am an elephant.
Our democratic system is held up as an example to the world, and been exported to many parts of the world. Yet there is no satisfactory way to decide on one council seat that has a tied vote.
This is an absolute disgrace and should be urgently reviewed, and if it requires a rerun for this seat then so be it. Get on with it. With all haste.
