I AGREE with Phillip Paciello in the Argus, May 4, (Science and Religion compliment each other beautifully) referring to the debate on a rational creator, and scientists who oppose the idea. That said, scientists who oppose the idea of a rational creator might ponder the idea more deeply – why is there order in the universe at all? Why do galaxies rotate, supernovae explode and black holes bend light according to mathematical and physical laws congenial to the human mind? So why is the universe just the way it is? Science cannot answer this question, natural science deals with “what is”, not “why it is”. It is actually much simpler to postulate an omnipotent creator who intended to produce our particular universe, and for the scientists to discover and marvel at what he as created.
