THE turnout for the Caerphilly Council local elections was a disgrace. All the whingeing and complaining, from a section of residents, was not enough for many of them to get up off their backsides to go to their local voting booths.
Sadly, many young people are just not interested. If they repeat this behaviour at a General Election, they will have no right to complain when further Tory cuts affect them!
As a Labour supporter, I was pleased to see our party returned to power in Caerphilly and look forward to them turning their attentions to the needs of Crumlin, Newbridge, Abercarn, Cwmcarn, Crosskeys and Risca. After all, their offices are just up the road at Ystrad Mynach. They should have heard our complaints, aimed at the Nationalists, without the need of a telephone. If they do not, I am sure that I will not be the only one reminding them of their obligations through the Argus letters page.
While happy to attack Plaid, I feel it only right to recognise the efforts of their member and our local councillor, Keith Lloyd, who was of enormous help in resolving a problem that I took to him. A heartfelt thank you costs me nothing.
