RE: THE M4 corridor enhancement measures programme, it is good news to hear that the Welsh Assembly have given the people of the city of Newport three extra public meetings – which is needed!
Some of the proposals, if the widening of the M4 programme gets the go-ahead, are full/partial closure of Junction 26 Malpas, possible upgrade of Junction 27 High Cross or possible closure?
So, before we bulldoze these junctions away in the darkness of night, should the WAG take the unusual step and implement a two-week closure of both junctions while all schools are live?
All road users, also the WAG, would then see the impact it has on their daily commute, also the extra cost to all road users and the impact it will have on all other road networks because of these two closures.
Surely a trial would be a sensible approach for everybody to get a true picture, if the closures get the go ahead.
If this proposal gets the green light, could the Assembly transport minister tell the people of Newport when construction work will take place, day or night?
