IT WAS pleasing to wake up last Friday morning to the news that Plaid Cymru had been removed from their disastrous few years running Caerphilly Borough Council. Over the years when they were in power they continually worked and voted with their local Labour councillors to upgrade their areas of Caerphilly, Bargoed and Ystrad Mynach, leaving the old borough of Islwyn as the poor relations! Now, with Labour in power for the next five years, I am hoping they turn some of their power towards upgrading many parts of the old Islwyn areas and not neglecting one side of the borough like Plaid so blatantly did. We are fortunate in Risca West to have two very good councillors in Phyl Griffiths and David Rees, who work very hard for the area they run, under the badge of Independent since the fall-out over the way the Labour Party selected the person to run for the parliamentary seat.

I, and a number of people in the Risca West constituency, would like to have Phyl and Dave back under the banner of Labour, but alas, there are a few people who hold a grudge against them in the Labour Party group, making this impossible. So do something, children, before you lose Risca West forever.
