I SUPPOSE it is inevitable that the republican lobby will raise their voices now the celebrations are over.

Just as well really for I fear their grousing would not have raised an eyebrow in the midst of such a happy weekend.

As per usual their reference to class and privilege is as always baffling.

What exactly do they mean? Does a lottery win not create privilege or is that acceptable if one wears clogs and cloth cap when buying a ticket. Who wants to live in a world where everyone is of the same “class.” To which class I wonder should we all align ourselves. Working class values were once a solid foundation upon which we could build our lives. Sadly that splendid state appears to have gone.

The republican, it would appear, thinks class has to do with wealth or possessions.

Class is a state of mind, determined by how we act towards each other and towards society. So does it matter if people have wealth and privilege, not a jot.

Those who look upon the royal family with disdain envy and resentment have and never will have class at any level.
