WITH reference to the recent report that an increasing number of children are leaving school with well below the required standard of even basic education.
While driving along the SDR at the Lliswerry School and college roundabout at 1.20pm on Wednesday, I was amazed at the number of 12-14-year-olds (not A-level students) obviously on their way home. This would indicate a (possibly) two-hour lesson day, taking into account play and lunch breaks.
This migration can be seen any day, at the majority of our main schools, and I would be interested to know of any reason for it.
