At last there is a move to reform the House of Lords.
The logical change should be a second chamber composed solely of elected members. This should exclude the Bench of Bishops.
Who do their clerics represent? Not even the majority of Christians, which includes Roman Catholics and non-conformists and certainly not people of other faiths or no religious affiliation at all.
There should be no state religion with the monarch at its head.
We need a more grown-up constituency with a national foundation. Now is the opportunity to move towards this, an opportunity which should not be allowed to pass.
