Congratulations to Newport City Parks Department, who have created the best displays ever with the wildflower beds on roundabouts and other places! This is enlightened planting that not only is pleasing to see for people, but is an example of biodiversity at its best and will help the pollenating insects in their time of need. It lifted my spirits to see these beds.
I’d love to have such planting in my garden. I have mentioned it to friends and they all agree without exception that this is a beautiful change from formal planting. Now, what about having whole roundabouts planted with wildflowers? It might save on mowing! As far as formal planting goes, the “52 per cent” roundabouts are amusing, with the recycling arrows giving the explanation to the public! Well done, Newport City Council!
