Newport museum is worth a visit

First published in Letters

MAY I draw fellow readers’ attention to Newport Museum and Art Gallery which currently has three exhibitions on display, all with a different theme.

Firstly, there is a collection of old photographs of Newport’s past, about which many members of the public have written their memories on the message boards.

Secondly, in this Diamond Jubilee year, there is a little gem of a short film showing Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip visiting Newport in their coronation year 1953. It is also combined with some delightful coronation memorabilia.

Finally, in this Olympic year, there is a wonderful display of Olympic history with stories of past Welsh and fellowGBathletes’ gold medal victories.

Any of these displays are well worth making a visit to the museum.
