THE amalgamation of three bus services into one, the 13 and 14, into an already existing number 30 has meant chaos for people who rely on public transport in Torfaen to and from Newport.

Travellers along the line from Brynmawr to Newport have had nearly an hour added on to their journey while passengers in Cwmafon, Abersychan, Forgeside, Pentwyn, Pontypool, New Inn, Croesyceiliog and Newport are forced to use an overly expensive and infrequent bus service.

People do not want to be trapped in their communities, late for work or face a massive £7 for a day rider.

The bus service is privately owned by Stagecoach who receive a public subsidy from Torfaen and Blaenau Gwent councils.

As people have paid and continue to pay taxes, why can’t the number 30 directly from Brymawr to Newport be cheaper? And why can’t the 30 be restored whilst recovering the 13 and 14 for the people who rely on these routes?

Yes, Stagecoach, we love to travel, but since the Tories privatised the buses with the Transport Act 1985 we have had a service in decline that has become more expensive.
