Fifty years ago in October, I was one of the women admitted to the all-male college in Caerleon.
As there was no bar in the college in those days, the Angel public house was a college venue and many a good night was spent there, particularly on the nights of the fancy dress dances. Many memories will be lost when this becomes a supermarket. The pub was so full that if you wanted to use the toilets at the back of the premises you had to go out of the front door and walk around the side to the back. This was quite dangerous, even though there was not quite as much traffic in those days.
I hate to think of the dangers and the impact of even more traffic jams on the one way system on that very busy corner when the supermarket is open.
