NEWPORT County boss Justin Edinburgh has waved goodbye to three members of last season’s squad as he continues to reshape for the coming campaign.

The Exiles boss is ready for County’s first season at Rodney Parade and has already presided over a huge overhaul of the playing personnel ahead of tonight’s first pre-season game.

Elliott Buchanan, Lee Baker, Glyn Thompson and Darryl Knights have been released while skipper Gary Warren and midfielder Sam Foley have joined Inverness and Yeovil respectively.

There were only two members of last season’s ranks whose future was undecided in Jake Reid and Romone Rose and the Argus can reveal neither will be at Newport next season.

Rose is poised to sign an agreement with an unnamed club and Reid will be allowed to find another employer.

County are also close to coming to terms on the release of winger Felino Jardim.

The Dutch winger penned a two-year deal last summer under previous manager Anthony Hudson but found it hard to establish himself in the side.

He was infrequently picked by Hudson and completely discarded by Edinburgh.

It is understood Jardim will formally leave the club next week.

Winger Rose, signed on non-contract terms after an unsuccessful spell in Thailand and a graduate of the QPR academy, was highly rated by boss Edinburgh on arrival.

It had been expected that he would stay on this season having been selected frequently last term, including in the FA Trophy final at Wembley where he missed a vital chance in the opening exchanges.

Reid played a key role in the league run-in, but hasn’t persuaded Edinburgh to offer him further terms.

Of the other departed players, the Argus has learned that Knights may well remain in the Conference and under the tutelage of a former Spurs player.

He has been training with AFC Telford, managed by former Tottenham and Sheffield Wednesday winger Andy Sinton.

Meanwhile, Blue Square Bet Conference North outfit Worcester are considering signing both Thompson and Baker.

County will field several trialists in tonight’s clash at Undy including ex-Neath players Kerry Morgan and Chris Jones.

The Exiles hope to make several signings before the Conference kicks off on August 11 but nothing is imminent.

Two players won’t feature tonight due to minor injuries, strikers Jake Harris and Jefferson Louis.
