There has been an air of secrecy and anticipation coming from Number 49 this last week. Having seen both Carolyn the youth worker, and Angharad the sports officer in close consultation managed to elicit some snippets of information from them to the effect that there is to be a presentation at the centre. Jane Wheale, the very busy centre manager, has sent me the following information on the courses that will be running from September this year. The courses will include Computers for the Terrified, Internet and e-mail, Digital Photography for beginners. New courses include Digital Photography - Intermediate; Welsh for the Family year 1 and 2; Spanish; CLAIT; Art; IT and Communications and Psychology.

PUBLIC DRINKING: It would appear that the problem of youngsters drinking alcohol in public places is not entirely over. A gentleman of my acquaintance informed me that some young men were seen drinking on a grassy patch just off Drinkwater Gardens.

Funeral of Meirion Williams

FUNERAL OF MEIRION WILLIAMS: The funeral took place at the Gwent Crematorium on Tuesday, February 13, 2007. There were many people in attendance showing the respect that was due to Meirion.

Sad loss

SAD LOSS: The Gaer Community Network members were shocked and saddened by the sudden death on Wednesday, February 7, of Meirion Williams, a staunch member of the network who entered into many of the focus groups such as the Knit Knats, the luncheon club, and bingo sessions at which he was the caller.
