CARNIVAL QUEEN: Pill carnival queen competition has now been arranged for Sunday, June 22, 4pm. Mr Tony Wright, MBE, of Real Radio, will be there to compere the event. Girls must be aged five years to 16 years on the day of the carnival (August 25, Monday bank holiday). First prize of £50 for the chosen queen plus £25 for the runner-up. We give prizes to all winners, which consist of five court ladies and five flower girls. All entrants must live in Newport. TRIBUTE: A minute's silence was given at Newport County in respect of George Picton Jnr, who was a dedicated fan. The family appreciated the tribute.

PRAM RACE: The annual pram race went ahead on spring bank holiday. We were very lucky with the weather, and a big thank-you to all the pretty mums and very large babies for taking part.

PRAM RACE: Pill carnival committee held its meeting and all is going well. Lots of interest in this year's pram race. All you need is a wheelable pram, wheelbarrow, etc, to enter, a mum and baby/grown-up dressed as the baby.
